The student services team links families to community resources and serve as liaisons
between HSES and community mental health professionals.
We are here to promote a safe and nurturing environment for all children each and every day. We invite you to contact us at 410-313-2550 or stop by to say “Hello!”
School Counseling
HSES has one full time counselor (Susan Castelbaum). Some of our programs offered this year include our award winning Character Education program, our preventative Bully-proofing initiative, Caught Being Your Best/Station Call Awards Monthly Assemblies, and DeBugging.
Our school counseling program integrates academic, career, and personal/social development and focuses on issues relevant to all students. Many of the counselor’s roles include individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, consultation, collaboration, and coordination with staff, case management, guidance lessons, and program evaluation.
School Psychology
HSES has one full time school psychologist (Nancy Hammer, CAS, NCSP.) who will be working with Early Beginnings through 5th grade students. Services we offer include intervention strategies to address and/or prevent academic and behavioral difficulties. The School Psychologist also provides crisis intervention, consultation, collaboration, and coordination with staff, as well as individual/group counseling when necessary to assist in addressing a student’s lack of performance in school.
School Psychologists promote educationally and psychologically healthy environments for all children and youth by implementing research-based, effective programs that prevent problems, enhance independence, and promote optimal learning.
